DYLAN TAKES 2015 UK CHAMPIONSHIP AT KIRKCALDY!
Dylan clinched the Junior A Championship in the final round of the UK Minimoto Championship yesterday at Kartstart, Kirkcaldy. He finished 2nd on the day behind Sandy Horne in some nail biting close races between the two. Dylan qualified 2nd after being quickest in first practice until a great lap from Sandy put him on pole. Dylan now just needed to finish where he was to win the championship, but that didn't deter him from going for the wins.Read more...
Race 1 started off in the worst way as Sandy passed Owen at the start to put a rider between himself and Dylan. A few corners later there was a pile up as a few riders hade come off in front of them and Dylan seized the chance to get into the lead, squeezing through, past the carnage infront of Sandy. He seemed to be pulling away and on course for a win until he noticed his boots had become undone and were flailing dangerously close to his bike. He decide to come into the pits to sort it out but rejoined a lap behind Sandy, finishing 2nd.
Race 2 was the closest of the day, with Dylan and Sandy wheel to wheel for 12 laps. Dylan came home 2nd, 0.3 seconds behind Sandy. In the final Race, Dylan seemed to back off a touch as Sandy found a few tenths and pulled away from him. Dylan took his third 2nd place of the day and was delighted to have sealed the championship.
Owen did well on his return to the UK championship, he qualified 7th with only a second between himself and pole sitter Josh Crawford. In the races he took a 6th and two 7th places.
Well done to all those riding today as the remaining championships were decided, and to Alan McIntosh for organising another great season. It's been a great year for Dylan and a big thanks to Sandy Horne and brother Owen for pushing him to become an even better rider this year and we all look forward to what 2016 brings....Less

OWEN TAKES 2015 BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE IN FINAL RACE!
Owen clinched the British Minibike Championship in the last race of the season, Round 10 at Redlodge Karting. Despite just needing to finish to take the title, he proved that he is a racer by pushing to win the races.
Saturdays practice was marred by heavy rain but the weather was forecast much brighter for the race. True to the predictions, the cloud faired up, but it wasn't enough to dry out the track which remained quite slippery. Owen struggled to get to grips with it in Practice, finishing some 6 seconds adrift of Sandy Horne. He improved dramatically during qualifying, ending up in 4th position on the grid, 0.2/s behind Sandy and 0.7/s behind Eddie O'Shea, setting up a great race between the three championship contenders.Read more...
Race 1 saw Owen slow off the line as he and Sandy lost a place. Owen chased Sandy down and passed him on the first lap with a great move around the outside. He closed in on Eddie but couldn't get close enough to make a move as there was a Heavyweight rider between them. Owen tried desperately to get past but had to settle for 3rd place behind Eddie and winner, Casey O'Gorman.
For Race 2, we made the decision to switch over to dry tyres, a move which failed to pay off as Owen couldn't quite match his earlier pace, finishing 4th behind both Sandy and Eddie, leaving him 4th overall on the day.
He also managed to take the 3rd championship place in the Junior Production class, behind fellow Bikewise Minibike Club riders, Champion Charlie Farrer and Runner-Up Franco Bourne....Less
VICTORY FOR DYLAN AT KIRKCALDY BRINGS TITLE CLOSER
It was a brilliant day for Dylan in yesterday's UK Minimoto Championship Round 7 at Kartstart, Kirkcaldy. He has enjoyed riding on the tight indoor circuit this season and was in determined mood to increase his point lead at the top of the championship.
Dylan was straight out the blocks and qualified in 1st place. He rode superbly in each of his races and made it 3 wins out of 3 to take maximum points for the day.
The results mean that he has now extended his lead in the championship to 41 points with one round left to go, a double points round with a maximum 50 points up for grabs.

DYLAN BOUNCES BACK WITH SUPERB WIN AT TEESIDE!
A brilliant day for Dylan, riding in Round 6 of the UK Minimoto Championship at Teeside Autodrome. The sun was shining and there was a great turn out from Bikewise Minibike Club riders producing some big grids on the longest track of the season. Dylan was really up for it and consistently set his own fastest laps throughout the day. He was back to his best and put in a great performance to take 2 wins and a second place, to finish 1st overall. In what has been a great season, it could possibly have been his best riding to date.Read more...
After confidently winning the first two races, he had a nasty crash in Race 2 of the Featherweight production class, coming away with a bruised elbow. In Race 3 of the Junior class, his bike seemed to have suffered some sort of damage and began to misfire, cutting his lap times by over 1 second. He rode well but was passed by Lewis Thompson and came home 2nd by 0.2/seconds.
A fantastic performance by Dylan, he worked hard and deserved his wins. The result puts him 29 points ahead of 2nd placed Cody Crawford in the championship with two rounds left to go....Less
GOOD PERFOMANCE AT WHILTON MILL KEEPS OWEN AHEAD IN CHAMPIONSHIP
It was a great performance by Owen in some hard fought races yesterday at Whilton Mill in Round 9 of the British Minibike Championship. He rode well all weekend and qualified 2nd in the Junior 4.2 Expert Lights ahead of championship rivals Eddie O'shea in 3rd and Sandy Horne in 4th.Read more...
He was passed by Eddie and heavyweight rider Ammanuel Brinton at the start of Race 1 and tried desperately to close the gap. He kept closing up on the corners but just couldn't keep up on the straights, possibly due to having shorter gearing on his bike. Race 2 saw him get a better start, maintaining 2nd place into turn one, but Eddie managed to pass him on the straight and despite his best efforts, they stayed there until the chequered flag.
Owen produced some great riding and came away with two 3rd places. The results mean Owen goes into the final race of the season at Red Lodge with a 14 point Junior championship lead over Eddie O'shea. He also managed a 5th and 6th place in the Junior Production class, which was enough to keep him in 3rd in the Production championship....Less

DYLAN SUFFERS A DIP IN FORM AT KNOCKHILL
It was a bad day at the office for Dylan as he failed to get into his stride during qualifying in the UK Minimoto Championship Round 5 race at Knockhill. He was a good couple of seconds off the pace and was subsequently knocked down to Group 2 and off the podium for the first time this season. He got his times down for Race 1and went on to finish 2nd, then won the next two races, but it was too late and he had to settle for 5th place overall in the Junior A class on the day.Read more...
Owen did well to qualify 5th in the Junior B Class, recovering from falling off trying to dodge an incident on the track in practice. OWEN TAKES 2ND IN HEAVY RAIN TO LEAD CHAMPIONSHIP AT REDNAL!
Owen pulled back a potentially disastrous day as he fought his way from the back of the grid to take 2nd place overall in the Junior 4.2 Lights in Round 8 of the British Minibike Championship at Rednal. In what has been the wettest season since TeamMellor began racing, the rain came down heavily again and there were plenty of slips and slides as the riders got to grips with the damp conditions.Read more...
Owen lost grip on the first lap of qualifying and was sent flying across the track and off onto the grass. The session was red flagged as he lay on the ground and the medics came to his aid. He had caught his foot and hit a nerve, sending pain from his foot to hip. Owen tried to rejoin once he was up but found it too painful to ride and came back in. Knowing a DNF would effectively put him out the championship race, he had some pain killers and went back out in the Production qualifying on his air-cooled bike and duly set his fastest lap of the day. It was a bad start for Dylan too, he was a second off Owen in practice but came off a few times which seemed to dent his confidence and he was slowest in qualifying, starting just ahead of Owen.
Race 1 saw Owen make his way slowly through the field, it was difficult to pass in the wet but he did brilliantly to get within a couple of riders of championship rival Eddie O'Shea. The race was red flagged as one of riders was badly hurt. Having to start at the back again, Owen fought his through to the same position but ran out of laps to challenge Eddie, finishing 3rd. Dylan came home in 4th.
Owen got a better start in Race 2, making up 3 places going into Turn 1. Eddie O'Shea had passed Sandy Horne to take the lead and Owen began closing in on both of them. As the gap was closing, Eddie took a fall in the chicanes and both Sandy and Owen passed him and went on to take 1st and 2nd. Eddie had another incident on the final lap and was unable to get his bike going again, allowing Dylan to pass him to take 3rd.
The results mean that Owen now leads the championship by 18 points over Sandy Horne with two rounds left to go....Less

OWEN AND DYLAN BOTH ON THE PODIUM AT LARKHALL!
Both TeamMellor boys were on the podium in yesterday's UK Minimoto Championship Round 4 race at Larkhall Karting track. The day started off badly as both riders were 10 seconds off the pace in practice, we had made the decision to switch to dry tyres but the track was still slippy in places, despite being virtually dry. Both riders slid off and Owen came in after just a few laps. Thankfully the track was completely dry by the start of qualifying and they both qualified in Group 1, Owen in 5th and Dylan in 9th.Read more...
Dylan rode well and capitalised on the absence of championship rival Sandy Horne to take victory in each of his three Junior A races and now leads the championship overall. Race 3 was close, coming out of the last bend with Cody Crawford, but Dylan held him off to make it 3 out of 3.
Owen, spurred on by his excellent performance in Assen last week, qualified 5th in the Junior B class. He mad a great start in Race 1, passing Declan Connell to get into 4th. It was an intense race as Owen, Jack Hart, Adon Davie and Ross Maguire rode each lap wheel to wheel. Owen crossed the line in 4th, with less than a second separating the four riders.
In Race 2, Owen managed to pass Declan and Adon to take 3rd. Looking to try and get on the podium, he had his sights on doing it again in the final race. He made a slow start but managed to get past when Declan ran wide and began to close in on the top 3. He almost passed Adon on the final lap but had to settle for 4th, and 4th overall.
Owen rode brilliantly in the featherweight class too after a collision between Jack and Adon in Race 1 allowed him to move into 2nd. The race was red flagged and restarted. Owen, now on his air-cooled bike due to a snapped chain on the warm-up lap, held his position to take 2nd. A 3rd and 4th in the next two races gave him 2nd overall. It was Owen's best performance in the UK Championship this year and it was great to see him back competing for the podium places against such a high level of competition. Roll on Round 5!...Less

OWEN SLIPS TO SECOND DESPITE STRONG PERFORMANCE AT LYDD
A good days racing for TeamMellor in yesterday's British Minibikes Championship Round 7 at Lydd Kart Track. The weather was perfect and the boys really enjoyed the track with Owen coming home in 2nd and Dylan finishing 4th overall in the Junior 4.2 Light Class. Dylan was blighted by bike troubles as practice was cut short after his spark plug disintegrated. More coil trouble caused his bike to stutter on the straights during qualifying but he managed a quick enough lap to qualify 4th.Read more...
A poor start by Owen in Race 1 saw him fall back to 3rd behind Sandy Horne. There was some fantastic racing between Owen, Sandy, and heavy weight riders Jake Hopper and Finn Smart as the four races wheel to wheel around the track. Jake and Finn managed to pass Sandy and Owen closed in on him for a tense last couple of laps, almost taking him on the line, only to be pipped by less than 0.1/s!
Another bad start saw Owen fall behind Sandy again, only to be saved by a red flag which forced a restart. There was no mistake this time and Owen got away in 2nd and Dylan got up to 3rd infront of Sandy. Owen pulled out a good gap over Sandy but couldn't catch Eddie O'Shea to challenge for the lead. Dylan did brilliantly as his bike seemed to be finally cured, looking to be heading for a 3rd place finish as he held Sandy off in some close racing. However, with 2 laps to go, as they tried to pass a back marker, Dylan went outside and Sandy too the inside line, forcing them both out wide to take 3rd. Dylan came back at him but ran out of time and had to settle for 4th.
Owen had a good day on his Polini production bike, being clearly faster, by 2 seconds, than his air cooled times for the first time. The results see Owen slip to 2nd in the championship, 6 points behind Eddie O'Shea and Dylan remains 4th behind Sandy Horne....Less

OWEN TAKES 3RD AT REDLODGE TO LEAD CHAMPIONSHIP
Owen did brilliantly to come back from a disastrous qualifying for the TeamMellor boys, to come 3rd overall in yesterday's British Minibike Championship Round 6 at Redlodge. After an excellent days practice on Saturday, Owen was 3rd fastest out of the juniors, and 2nd fastest behind Casey O' Gorman in the Expert Light class during Sunday's first practice. Dylan was 3rd fastest in the class.Read more...
Owen was feeling optimistic until the heavens opened just before qualifying. Both Owen and Dylan struggled to find the grip running on the wet tyres with Owen qualifying in 4th and Dylan having a nightmare starting in 6th, and 15th overall in the juniors, at the back of the grid.
With the damp conditions continuing into Race 1, Owen tried his best to make up the ground but still wasn't able to find his pace. Dylan slid off on the first corner but was quickly back on and began chasing the pack from the back. His bike sounded very rough during the first few laps but suddenly cleared and he began cutting through the field. In the final couple of laps Dylan passed Thomas Gomez to take 5th and was closing in fast on Owen who seemed to be being held up. Owen held Dylan off at the last corner to remain 4th and Dylan finished 5th.
The weather finally began to brighten up and the track almost completely dried out ready for Race 2. Owen was feeling much happier and started getting back to his old self. He made a great start and began carving his way through the field in pursuit of Eddie O'Shea. He made some excellent overtaking manoeuvres and caught right up with Eddie in the last couple of laps. Eddie had a wobble into Turn 3 and Owen darted up the inside to take 2nd place. Dylan was flying too and passed Sean Able to take 4th place. It was a great finish to a day which was looking very bleak indeed.
The results means Owen now leads the championship by 2 points over Eddie O' Shea, with Dylan in 4th place behind Sandy Horne....Less

DYLAN FINISHES 2ND AT RACELAND
There were plenty of incidents, crashes, broken bikes and bruised riders as Dylan finished 2nd overall in the Junior A class in Round 3 of the UK Minimoto Championship at Raceland, Edinburgh. It was the first time at Raceland for most of the riders, it was a great track, but the high kerbs caught a few of the riders out, Dylan being one of them, coming off 4 times and Owen came off twice throughout the day!Read more...
Dylan was a couple of seconds off the pace of Sandy Horne, who took pole during qualifying, as he took longer to get used to the new track, but managed 2nd place on the grid. Owen qualified 7th in the Junior B class. In Race 1, Dylan managed to get up to speed and began chasing Sandy down, but couldn't close the gap enough to challenge him. He clipped the kerb about 5 laps in and was passed by Cody Crawford. He did his best to catch up to Cody but had to settle for 3rd place. Owen was lapping well too but came off twice, he quickly got back on each time and finished 6th.
Dylan was up for it in Race 2 and was right on the back of Sandy, he tried to pass him several times but Sandy held his line to fend Dylan off. Dylan knew he had to win this one and was lapping quicker until he clipped the same kerb and came off again. With Cody closing in on him he was straight back on the bike and made it home in 2nd. Owen had a solid race and finished 5th in the Junior B class.
Dylan knew, realistically, he would have to settle for second place on the day but wanted to finish on a high. He got a great start in Race 3, to take Sandy and get into the lead. Sandy was all over the back of him, trying to get up the inside of every turn, but Dylan managed to hold him off to take the win in another very close finish. Owen put in his fastest performance of the day and was challenging Josh Crawford. He was looking much more comfortable with the track and he came home in 4th....Less

WINS FOR BOTH TEAMMELLOR RIDERS AS OWEN GETS FIRST VICTORY!
A great days racing in yesterdays British Minibike Championship Round 5 at Whilton Mill saw Owen and Dylan take a race win each, with Owen getting his first overall 1st place for the team. The weather was perfect and the boys really enjoyed the track. Dylan qualified in 3rd place behind pace setter Sandy Horne and Thomas Gomes. Owen qualified in 4th position.Read more...
After being about a second off in qualifying, Dylan suddenly clicked in Race 1, slashing his times by almost 1.5/s! He began to reel Sandy in, passing him to take 1st place with 3 laps to go. On the final lap, Sandy slid off and Dylan looked to be home and dry, only to fall on the second to last corner! The bike somersaulted down the track and was unfit to continue the race. He wasn't hurt too badly, just a bit of bruising, but he was devastated at not getting the win. Owen, who had made his way into 3rd, passed Sandy and Dylan after their incidents to take 1st place and win the race. Well done Owen!
Dylan was determined to make up for the first race and had a great start in Race 2 to get right on the back of Sandy after the first corner with Owen following him through into 3rd. Dylan was really pushing and ended up going off-road, bouncing over the kerb, then over the edge of the grass, but he somehow managed to stay on and get back on track. He then started to close back in on Sandy and it was extremely close racing. Owen was staying with them too, lapping within 0.5/s of Dylan. Dylan was trying to get up the inside of Sandy in the last few laps and they came round the last corner of the final lap side by side, crossing the line together. It was too close to call by eye so we waited for the times which saw Dylan take the win by 0.02 of a second! Owen came home in 3rd....Less

DYLAN GETS FIRST BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP VICTORY!
A fantastic days racing yesterday as both TeamMellor boys were on the podium as Dylan won 1st place and Owen finished 3rd in the British Minibike Championship Round 4 at Rowrah Karting. Dylan was only able to get out for about 10 minutes on his DM Telai air-cooled bike during Saturday's practice when his ignition coil failed. Facing the prospect of Dylan being without a bike and unable to race, we made the four and a half hour journey to Scotland and back to get a new coil. With the new coil fitted, Dylan was straight on the pace during Sunday's morning practice and did brilliantly in qualifying to secure pole position ahead of Sandy Horne in 2nd and Owen in 3rd.
In Race 1, Dylan got an excellent start, and opened a slight gap to Sandy. Sandy looked in a determined mood and started eating away at Dylan's lead. The flag couldn't come soon enough and Dylan crossed the line to take the win by 1 second. Owen rode well and fought hard to stay ahead of Eddie O'shea in an extremely close battle for 3rd, just taking it by 0.2/s!
Race 2 saw another great start by Dylan as he passed Junior Heavy rider Cameron Dawson to put a rider between him and Sandy. The three riders raced wheel to wheel for each of the 8 laps in a brilliant race which saw them cross the line with only half a second covering them. Dylan made it 2 wins out of 2 to win his class. Owen continued his battle with Eddie, it was unbelievably close, but he held on to take 3rd by 0.04/s!
The boys were a bit off the pace in the Junior Production class as Owen came home in 8th in Race 1, with Dylan following him in 9th. The rain started to fall lightly as they prepared to go on track for Race 2 and they made the decision to ride on wet tyres. The move paid off as the rain got heavier and riders began sliding off. Owen passed Dylan, as he looked more comfortable in the wet, and pulled away to cross the line in 2nd with Dylan finishing 3rd....Less

DYLAN ROBBED OF VICTORY AT KNOCKHILL
The TeamMellor mechanic was reprimanded by Dylan after his choke was left on during today's UK Minimoto Championship Race at Knockhill, costing him two victories in which he produced, undoubtedly, his best riding performance of the season so far. Dylan qualified in 2nd place, behind championship rival Sandy Horne by 0.08/s, as the duo continued where they left off in last weeks British Championship. Dylan upped his game in Race 1 and stormed into the lead with a magnificent start. He pulled out a good gap and went on to win.Read more...
In Race 2, disaster struck. After another great start, he took the lead but after the first corner his bike cut out. He got going again, but Sandy was half a lap ahead so he had to settle for 2nd place. Race 3 saw Dylan take the lead again, he was absolutely flying, desperate to make up for the previous race. He looked to be coming home to take the win but on the final lap, with 2 corners to go, his bike cut out again. Sandy passed him to take 1st and Dylan came home in 2nd. Sandy took 1st place and Dylan got 2nd overall, leaving them tied at the top of the Junior A class.
Owen finished with two 7th's and an 8th his Junior B classes. He was lapping well, at the same times as Dylan in Race 1, but he looked uncomfortable once the rain got heavier and his pace slowed slightly in the other two races. OWEN AND DYLAN COLLIDE AS BOTH RIDERS ON THE PODIUM
Every racing teams worst nightmare happened for the first, and hopefully last time, in Round 3 of the British Minibike Championship at Rednal. The TeamMellor racers took each other out on the first corner of Lap 1, Race 1 of the Junior 4.2 Expert Lightweight class! It was their first trip to Rednal Karting and it's a great track which both boys enjoyed riding on. Both the TeamMellor riders really wanted to win and they went into the corner wheel to wheel in an attempt to catch Sandy. Dylan slowed down more at the corner than Owen, and with nowhere to go, Owen piled straight into the back of him, sending them both flying across the track. After straightening their handle bars and a quick health check, the boys rejoined the race, making it home with Owen in 4th and Dylan in 5th place.
They recomposed themselves and prepared to give it another go in Race 2. This time they both made it around the corner, although Owen got away slower, possibly feeling a bit cautious after the previous incident. Dylan closed in on Sandy and eventually passed him on Lap 3 with a great move on the corner. Sandy came back at him but Dylan held him off to take the lead. Owen was closing in too but couldn't get close enough to make a move. Dylan seemed to be easing away from Sandy, but suddenly he managed to close right back in on Dylan for a very tense last couple of laps. Dylan held him off to take a fantastic win and Owen came home in 3rd.
The results saw Dylan end the day with a 2nd place overall and Owen's 3rd gave him 4th place overall. Both boys also showed some great improvement on the production bikes, with Owen getting to within a second of his air-cooled times and edging closer to being competitive in that class too....Less

Dylan grabbed 1st place in the Junior A class as the UK Minimoto Championship got underway at Kartstart, Kirkcaldy. He rode brilliantly all day, taking 3 wins out of 3, despite being under some intense pressure from Sandy Horne as they battled it out for the top spot.
Dylan looked to be heading for a comfortable win in the first race, pulling out a decent gap over Sandy, until he slid off on lap 6. He managed to get himself up and back on just in front of Sandy and held him off on the straight to keep the lead and he went on to win the race.Read more...
Race 2 was much closer, with Sandy right on the back of Dylan and turning up the heat, until a bike failure stopped him, leaving Dylan to go on and win. The battle resumed in the final race. This time Dylan was pushed by Sandy all the way to the finish line but he held his own to take victory. Fantastic riding by both of them to start what promises to be an exciting season. Well done Dylan, you deserved it. Owen didn't have a great first round as he moved into a very strong Junior B class for the first time. He wasn't on the pace in qualifying, which is crucial on the tight Kartstart track, and it left him with a lot to do in the races, finding it hard to find a way past Liam Bassett in the second and third races. He finished the day with a 7th and two 8th places.
Owen faired a little better in the featherweight class, beating Dylan in the last two races to come 7th in each one.
